Astrid of Cooray’s home island is attacked by Danes, and she flees by boat. She is shipwrecked on an island and struggles to find acceptance among the villagers, who find every reason to be suspicious of her. Astrid vows to avenge her family, but the past continues to haunt her. While trying to create a new life on the island, Astrid’s thirst for revenge gives her the strength to keep going, but it also feeds the doubts growing against everything she believed.
